Ok---so it's October and the growing season is basically over. BUT, in an effort to salvage this attempt at a gardening record, I think I will still post some photos to remind me of my successes and failures this year.

These are some Spring photos of some areas in my yard that are in definite need of attention.

East bed in the back yard. I attempted a dry river bed, but it needs design help and it is constantly weedy. I would like to re-do it next year with some weedblock under the rocks. Behind this bed is a chain-link fence covered in Virginia Creeper. It can be very pretty, but it is very invasive and ultimately I would love to replace it with a new fence. Maybe someday. :)

This is the view off my back deck. It's a beautiful rock stairway for an eventual walk out basement. (Basement is currently unfinished) I really struggle with what to plant here.

Wider view of the same area.

Super cute "zen" pot my mom helped me plant. It has a mini japanese maple tree, a mini juniper bush, some red clover and a little moss. So cute. Definitely want to do this again next year. I am going to plant the maple by the rock steps in back and take the mini Juniper inside for the winter.

Just an early photo of one of my hanging pots. Started out great but I think my front porch gets too much hot sun in July and August so they fizzled out. I need to find something super heat resistant for next year.

Crazy little idea I had

Ok, so this is kind of a crazy little idea I had----I spend a lot of time in my yard. Planting, weeding, transplanting, watering, weeding etc. Anyway, I've always wanted to document the good things and the bad things---ya know, so that next year I won't make the same mistakes or I can remember the name of plants that I liked or what did well in which location. . . . well, we will see how it goes. Good luck to me.
